Fortune 500 Manufacturing Company
A major manufacturing company, seeking a better grasp of its corporate culture and how to reinforce and adapt it to support a new business strategy, engaged Winthrop to conduct a "cultural audit" and gap analysis. Through more than 40 interviews with executives and long-tenured employees, as well as research in corporate records and other archival sources, we analyzed the company's culture in historical context. We identified the core values and related skills and competencies that had contributed to the company's success, and highlighted other aspects of its culture that were functioning as barriers to growth. In addition, by benchmarking the company's historical development against that of other leading industrial companies, we were able to identify several values that the company needed to develop or acquire if it were to meet its growth objectives.
